Food and drink in Portland

We went to some incredible restaurants while in Portland. The pictures above and below are from Duck Fat.
This is poutine. And it was good.
This is the best mac and cheese I've ever had. It included kielbasa, jalapenos and corned bread. It was delicious.
The wine rack at Fore Street Restaurant. This food was mighty good.

Wine in our impressive wine glasses inside our hotel room.

Dude. I would kill for that meal. Mac and Cheese. Poutine!!!!! That's my dream dinner. I guess I could have it, too. I own a mini-van. I could be there in two hours. Jason

This is not a good time to dream about poutine. Kara and I are in the middle of a weight loss contest. The first to lose 10 pounds wins. Yesterday I ate tuna, carrots and celery during the day, and had rice and chicken at night. She's at the gym right now spinning on a stationary bike. I think we're serious about this. It's kind of fun. Jason

I love poutine! I used to eat it all the time in Canada! Doesn't get much better... I'm glad you guys had a fun little vacation! Wish you could have come here though :(

I am with you Shelby, if they came to see you, I could go to my brothers and we could have had a little get together. Darn those crazy kids.

BTW, what is Poutine?? I am sure I would love it, if my nephews love it, but I just have never heard of it.

Sitting in bewilderment, Liz

Poutine is fries topped with curd cheese and gravy. The stuff I got from Duck Fat was delicious. The fries were fried in duck fat, the curd cheese was Maine-made and the gravy also came from duck. The food is a staple of late-night eating for young Canadians. If you go out in a hip town in Canada, when the bars close there are poutine venders on the streets, like New York has hot dog vendors. It is neat. Those silly little Canadians. -- ST
