Pregnancy Update: 24 weeks

Week 24! Nothing new to report. I was feeling really good today so I was able to get a lot of stuff done around the house. Stephen was home this morning so he dusted and cleaned the kitchen while I washed all our windows and put the screens in. I love having clean windows! It's going to be a beautiful weekend, so I'm glad we'll be able to enjoy the fresh air inside too!

I'm still working on my baby registry. And I'm feeling the need to buy lots of maternity clothes, but I'm refraining. I did buy this really cute dress from target to wear to Ryan and Ginger's wedding, and my baby shower and probably lots of other places. I bought some cute earrings from Anthropology to go with it and now I just need a really fun necklace and I'll be all set...and maybe some new shoes.

So what is everyones "can't live without" baby item and "I could've passed on this" baby item. I'm just curious. Like I said in my last post, a lot of stuff seems totally unnecessary, and I'm just curious as to what's helped other people out.

Cute dress!

I am not a mom yet, so I can't tell you what to register for, but I know that both Julie and my sister-in-law Stephanie have used the Fisher-Price Healthy Care Delux Booster Seat a lot.

I'm an old school mom, but, I really liked having a diaper changing table. I finally got one when I had Stephen, because Hank KNEW I had wanted one for all 4 kids. I used it so much with little Stephen. Also, a high chair. Love those two items.

You look adorable Linsey. :)

Love the dress! And you are still looking great.

This swaddle thing is the best. Joey Sleeps in every night. He's a pretty active baby and We have a hard time keeping a blanket on him so this works great. Also it keeps him from hitting himself in face as he works on refining his motor skills, which also keeps him sleeping a little longer at night. Bonus!

Mom: is that a bed-wetting reference?

My goodness Linsey, you look fabulous!
Here are a couple things that I can't live without....
Aquaphor healing Ointment for their little bums. The stuff is amazing.
I love Burt's Bees baby products especially the shampoo. Nothing like a sweet smelling babe.
I learned to have a huge jar full of pacifiers (If you are going to use them) I always seem to loose them when I need one. I also always have one on me.
Crap bags. Yes, I said crap bags. They are little bags to put their poopy diapers in when you are out and about.
I also make sure to have extra diapers and change of clothes in the car for back up. Always have a change of clothes with you. You might even want a change of clothes for yourself!!! You never know when you'll get shat on!! ;)
I too, like the baby swaddle thing that I discovered when I had Jude.
I also love onesies. They seem to keep the diaper right snug in place.
As far as big items, I guess they are all a personal like. I never really had anything that I did not need.
My babies loved to have calming music to put them to sleep. Remember when Henry had his cd that played for him every night...
Those are a couple stupid little things and a little advice I can give you.
I haven't looked at your registry yet, but one thing I learned if you are planning on getting a breast pump, a lot of insurances will pay for them. So check with your insurance company. We spent $300 on one. That sucked.
I am so excited for you guys to hold that baby girl for the first time. You guys are going to be in love with her like a love that you'd probably never have felt before!!
You guys are going to be amazing parents!!

You aksed, so here is my two cents!.....
The changing table is good...helps keep things organized.
You'll want a place to put her when you aren't holding her (blankets on the floor are great, too), like a swing or a bouncy chair. She'll probably grow out of that in a few months, so borrowing that is great, too.
A booster, high chair or bumbo seat is great for when she is sitting up. Amya even did art projects and water play in her high chair tray.
A co-sleeper or bassinet will come in handy until she is a little older and you're ready to put her in a crib overnight (if you are breastfeeding, it is just so much easier to grab them and feed them without having to get out of bed...especially when it is a few times a night).
You'll deffinatly want a boppy pillow! Those things are just handy!
When you get baby hangers, get the little clips, too. Little girl clothes always come in pieces that you'll want to keep together. You may also want to get a few tupperware storage containers because you'll get all different sized clothes at your shower. I labeled mine 3 - 6 months, 6 - 12 months, etc. Then when she grows out of a size, you can just swap them out for the next size up.
Register for a few nightgowns that are open on bottom. These are very handy during the night when you don't want to turn a light on to snap them back up!
figure out what you'll be using your stroller for and then find one best suited for that...walks around your neighborhood and traveling (sturdy umbrella strollers are great), mall walking (you'll want the storage bin underneath), excersizing (a jogging stroller...preferably with a pivoting front wheel you can lock in place). Also, make sure the handle comes up high enough so you are slumped over pushing it...stroller companies assume everyone pushing a stroller is under 5'5"! Daddys push strollers, too!
A front pack is super handy. We use ours daily. We liked the less expensive "Jeep" brand better than the higher end "Baby Bjorn". All my friends have the "Ergo" and rave about them. I think we're going to get one because they can ride on the back, too.
Register for diapers regardless of what kind you're going to use (you're going to get sick of buying them really fast!). If you go with disposable, you probably want to register for only one box per size (starting with newborn), just in case the baby grows fast! Amazon has a great auto ship deal. If you do cloth diapers, we love g-diapers.
When looking for a diaper bag, look beyond "diaper" bags. Keep in mind wide and shallow is better than narrow and deep.
When you register for receiving blankets, get good quality, larger ones (and a bunch of them). 32" x 36" will last you longer than the smaller ones. They always get pooped on, too!
I could go on and on, linsey! ;)..................c.
p.s. looking fabulous!
